The worlds largest fireplace manufacturer, Hearth & Home Technologies Inc., was recently recognized by the American Lung Association with a National Partnership Award. Presented September 16 at the American Lung Associations national board meeting in Minneapolis, the award honors Hearth & Home Technologies involvement in the American Lung Association Health House program to promote clean indoor air. Through the Health House program, Hearth & Home Technologies helps raise awareness among builders and consumers about the air quality benefits of innovative technologies like direct vent gas and electric fireplaces.

Hearth & Home Technologies shares our commitment and passion to providing a safer, healthier environment in the home, said Harold Wimmer, President & Chief Executive Officer, American Lung Association of the Upper Midwest. Its a great pleasure to recognize the leader in the hearth industry for its efforts to improve indoor air quality.

Hearth & Home Technologies has a long history of commitment to indoor air quality. As the inventor of direct vent gas technology in the mid-1980s, the company revolutionized the hearth industry by permitting safe gas fireplace installation virtually anywhere in the home. Unlike unvented or vent free gas fireplaces, direct vent gas models directly expel 100 percent of the fires combustion exhaust, moisture and odors outside the home. Indoor air quality does not have a chance of being polluted because a sealed glass front keeps potentially hazardous by-products such as carbon monoxide, nitrous oxide and excess moisture from entering the home.

Our involvement with the Health House program allows us to reach out and educate more people than we could do on our own, said Brad Determan, President, Hearth & Home Technologies. Were honored to receive this award and support such an outstanding program.
