Widely used by European homeowners for years, pellet-burning appliances have progressively been gaining popularity in the U.S., especially with the surge in oil and gas prices last year. During the second quarter of 2009, Quadra-Fire will launch the EDGE 60, the first-ever pellet fireplace to hit the market. It is a powerful, high performance fireplace specifically designed for supplemental home heating.

Free standing pellet stoves and inserts have been available for several years, but never before could consumers purchase a pellet fireplace. With the EDGE 60, homeowners can choose a pellet fireplace that fits their dcor perfectly, while supplementing their central heat source with clean, safe and environmentally friendly heat. This product brings together two of the hearth industrys big hitters clean-burning fireplaces and renewable pellet fuel.

Delivering a whopping 60,000 BTUs of heat, the EDGE 60 can provide warmth to over 2,500 square feet of living space. It features Quadra-Fires proven Advanced Energy multi-fuel pellet technology, allowing homeowners to choose fuel options ranging from wood and grass pellets, to corn and wheat. The EDGE 60 has a programmable wall control with a thermostat to regulate heat output to achieve optimum fuel efficiency. It also has an automatic self-cleaning feature and is whisper quiet when operating.

Additional standard features of the EDGE 60 include an extra large hopper holding 120 pounds of pellets for up to seven days of extended operation and a slide out rail system for easy maintenance. The homeowner can choose from four front options, ranging from traditional to modern in style. The fronts are available in a variety of finishes, including todays popular brushed nickel and oiled bronze.

Environmentally conscious homeowners who supplement their homes central heat with a pellet fireplace, stove or insert can attain the same CO2 reduction of owning three hybrid cars, said Jeni Forman, Quadra-Fire brand manager. And heating with pellet fuels is carbon neutral, so it does not affect their carbon footprint. The EDGE 60 provides the beauty of a fireplace while giving homeowners piece of mind that they are living green by using renewable fuel sources.

The EDGE 60 pellet fireplace will be available at Quadra-Fire dealers and distributors in spring 2009, and is on display at the International Builder Show, booth C5643. For product images and additional information, visit www.fireplaces.com/profitsolutions.com, and click on Media Kits.
